This introductory course gives banking professionals a practical understanding of financed emissions and how banks can apply the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF®) Standard. It explains why financed emissions matter for financial institutions, how carbon accounting connects to disclosure expectations and net-zero ambitions, and how the PCAF Standard supports consistent measurement and reporting.
The course introduces the structure of the PCAF Standard, with a focus on financed emissions, and guides you through the first steps of carbon accounting in a banking context. Through practical examples and exercises, you will build the confidence to begin measuring financed emissions or strengthen existing approaches, using the results to support disclosure, portfolio analysis, and climate target-setting.
The course is structured into three units, each supported by a range of topics:
